There is something both exciting and quietly challenging about growth. What once felt like a clear path, teaching in the classroom, working closely with students, planning lessons, and seeing progress day by day, begins to shift as your role expands into leadership.

Becoming a leader does not mean I stopped being a teacher. It means my impact now stretches beyond one classroom. I find myself thinking differently, not just about lessons, but about systems, people, culture, and long-term growth.

But with that expansion comes a quiet question I often return to: How do I grow without losing myself in the process?

For me, the answer is staying anchored to my core as an educator. The heart of teaching, relationships, and believing in every child’s potential still guide me. Those values don’t fade in leadership; they deepen.

I still see myself as a teacher first. That identity keeps me grounded when decisions become complex or when leadership feels heavy. It reminds me that every choice eventually connects back to people.

Leadership has also taught me to listen more, step back, and trust others. It is less about control and more about influence, clarity, and creating space for others to grow.

And as a mother, this balance feels even more meaningful. My roles at home and at work often mirror each other, both requiring patience, presence, and intention.

I am learning that expanding my role does not mean becoming someone else. It means growing into who I already am, with more purpose and awareness. 💛
